**Senior Software Engineer, Media Creation** **About the Role** Reddit is seeking a product-minded Senior Software Engineer to build the next generation of media creation tools. You'll define the backend architecture powering how Redditors capture, edit, and publish engaging video and image content, tackling complex technical challenges to support media product strategy globally. **Key Responsibilities** • Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering to execute on strategy and build novel products users will love • Own backend infrastructure for media creation, building fast, maintainable APIs that integrate seamlessly with frontend clients • Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch • Participate with a team of thoughtful, fast-moving, and motivated engineers • Contribute to standards that improve developer workflows and mentor junior engineers • Balance speed with quality while building brand-new products **Required Qualifications** • BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience • 3+ years of industry experience in large-scale distributed systems • 5+ years of hands-on professional software development in Go, Python, Ruby, Java, or C++ • Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, and API design • Experience with distributed caching layers and large-scale data storage systems like Redis • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment **What Sets You Apart** • Proven track record of strong product thinking and translating complex user workflows into robust backend state management • Experience building asynchronous media processing pipelines and event-driven microservices • Strong SQL and data analysis skills • Hands-on expertise with media frameworks like FFMPEG and GPAC **Compensation & Benefits** **Base Salary:** $190,000 – $267,000 USD • Comprehensive healthcare and income replacement programs • 401(k) with employer match • Global benefit programs including professional development and caregiving support • Family planning and gender-affirming care • Mental health and coaching benefits • Flexible vacation and paid volunteer time off • Generous paid parental leave **Equal Opportunity** Reddit is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce and providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
