Software engineering jobs Discord FAQ

What is CronJobs in one sentence?

CronJobs is a free Discord community where US-based software engineers find fresh jobs from 17 direct ATS and RSS sources, share anonymous salary data, and use AI career tools without leaving Discord.

How do I join CronJobs?

Click the Discord invite at discord.gg/cronjobs, accept the server rules, and pick your role during onboarding. You have full access in under a minute, and there is no signup form or paywall for the core feeds.

Is CronJobs actually free?

Yes. Joining, reading the forum feeds, using the free ask-the-bot AI channel, sharing salary data in #salary-talk, and participating in all community channels costs nothing. Premium ($9.99/mo) is optional and adds conversational search, personalized DM feeds, AI resume tailoring, and urgent match notifications.

Where do the jobs come from?

Directly from the source. CronJobs ingests from 12 applicant tracking systems (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters, Rippling, Workday, BambooHR, BreezyHR, JazzHR, iCIMS, Taleo) and 5 aggregators/feeds (Indeed, RemoteOK, Remotive, Jobicy, Hacker News Hiring). The pipeline refreshes every hour and posts new listings into forum channels 4x daily.

How fast do new jobs show up?

Within hours of being posted at the source. The ATS crawler runs hourly. Forum channels publish new listings 4x daily. Premium DM feeds refresh every 15 minutes, so urgent listings reach premium members almost immediately.

What kinds of roles are on CronJobs?

Software engineering only, USA-based. Coverage spans backend, frontend, fullstack, AI/ML, DevOps/SRE, mobile (iOS/Android), and security. Every discipline has its own forum channel plus the catch-all #all-jobs. Non-engineering roles (recruiting, sales, operations, skilled trades) are filtered out.

Does CronJobs cover junior/entry-level jobs?

Yes. Listings span entry-level through staff/principal. The pipeline pulls every software engineering role posted to the source — not just senior — and tags seniority so you can filter. For a focused walkthrough, see the junior SWE jobs guide.

Are there remote software engineering jobs?

Yes. Every listing is tagged with work mode (remote, hybrid, onsite) and filterable. The #all-jobs channel includes every mode; role-specific channels let you see just remote roles in your discipline. The remote SWE jobs guide covers how to use the feeds most effectively.

What does Premium actually add?

Four things: (1) conversational AI job search over the full index — ask for "senior backend Rust roles paying $200k+ remote" and get a filtered answer, (2) personalized DM job feeds on your own schedule, (3) AI resume tailoring with resume + JD upload, (4) urgent-match alerts for high-priority roles. Plus access to #premium-lounge. Billed through Discord at $9.99/mo.

How do employers post jobs?

Employers use the Job Poster ($99/mo, 2 standard posts per month, repost reminders, hiring lounge access) or Job Poster Pro ($199/mo, adds 2 sponsored posts, gold placements, multi-channel posting, weekly performance DMs) tiers. Posts go directly into the relevant role channels and reach active software engineers already in the server.

Where is my data stored and how is it used?

Everything runs on Cloudflare. User preferences live in D1, schedules in KV, resumes in R2 (auto-deleted after 4 hours). We do not sell or share your personal information. Full details on the Privacy Policy page.

Is CronJobs available outside the United States?

Not yet. All listings are filtered to US-based roles and the service is designed for engineers authorized to work in the United States. International expansion is on the roadmap.

How does CronJobs compare to LinkedIn, Indeed, or Hacker News?

CronJobs is (1) direct-source from ATS systems, so listings are fresher than aggregators, (2) community-first, with a live Discord of peers sharing leads and salary data, and (3) AI-assisted conversationally inside Discord instead of through a separate product. For a full comparison including other developer Discord servers, see the best Discord servers for software engineers guide.
