Headquartered in Santa Barbara, California with team members across the globe. **The Role** As a Senior II Software Engineer on the Auth team, you'll develop and maintain core authentication systems for Bitwarden clients (web, desktop, browser extension, CLI, and mobile apps). The Auth team owns code in Angular clients, shared Rust core, and IdentityServer/API back-end, supporting password, SSO, passkey, 2FA, and account management. **Key Responsibilities** • Build and maintain authentication code in Rust core, Angular clients, and IdentityServer • Scope and refine initiatives with cross-team collaboration • Contribute to team discussions and drive actionable results • Provide thorough code reviews • Triage, diagnose, and resolve community and customer bugs • Update and validate core dependencies for security and stability **What You Bring** • Extensive Angular experience; .NET experience a plus • Familiarity with Rust integration via WASM and UNIFFI bindings • Understanding of modern web authentication (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, WebAuthn) • Strong technical writing and communication skills • Attention to detail and knowledge of secure development principles • Collaborative, adaptable mindset with excellent problem-solving skills • Passion for open source and internet security **Interview Process** • Meeting with Recruiting Manager • Interview with Auth team Engineering Manager and Platform Group Manager • Panel interview with Auth team **Why Join Us** • Work with a community that loves our product • Become an expert in security and open source • Remote-first team with diverse, talented members worldwide • Continuous learning and growth opportunities **Location & Compensation** 🌍 All-remote, U.S.-based candidates only (no visa sponsorship) 💰 Starting base: $180,000 - $215,000 (varies by experience and location)
