The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips and has autonomously driven over 100 million miles on public roads across 15+ U.S. states. **The Role** As the Pipeline SRE Lead, you'll drive the reliability of critical release pipelines and lead strategy for observability, incident management, capacity planning, and continuous improvement of production systems. This hybrid role reports to the Head of Planner within the Onboard organization. **You Will:** • Lead an SRE team spanning Waymo's Release and Pipeline infrastructure • Organize and participate in oncall rotations for field driving issues • Harden software, develop playbooks, and improve robustness of critical release processes • Lead engineering analysis and response to novel or unexpected events • Partner across organizations to improve large-scale software engineering practices • Contribute to system architecture for improved robustness and debuggability • Hire and manage additional engineers as needed **Required Experience:** • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field • 10+ years leading large-scale production software systems (especially ML systems) • 5+ years as an organizational leader managing teams • Experience organizing and running oncall rotations • Strong influence without authority skills • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities **Preferred:** • Experience with hybrid hardware/software production systems • Leadership of teams working on modern deep ML/large-scale models • Track record of driving change in 1000+ person engineering organizations **Compensation** Salary Range: $298,000 – $368,000 USD Eligible for annual bonus, equity incentive plan, and company benefits.
