We’re committed to open-source contributions and building a vibrant developer community around our award-winning, developer-friendly API and robust infrastructure. **Your Role** As a Senior Engineer, you’ll design, implement, and maintain the systems and services that form Alpaca’s foundation and empower millions of users trading billions of dollars in assets. You’ll also support regional recruitment initiatives, mentor talent on engineering principles and practices, and help foster Alpaca culture in the region. In this role, you’ll serve as the operational reliability and engineering lead and act as the incident commander during regional business hours—ensuring proactive 24x7 stability. We’re looking for an experienced full-stack engineer who can deliver high-quality, seamless software solutions, challenge conventions, and advocate for innovative approaches—while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. **Things You Get To Do** - Design a highly scalable, mission-critical brokerage system. - Develop and enhance middle- and back-office systems, including gRPC microservices, a React-based UI for internal administration and API developers, and third-party vendor integrations. - Work with core teams to enhance and transform the core framework to support multiple languages, currencies, and markets. - Collaborate with tech leads in other regions (sync and async) using Slack and occasional meetings outside regular working hours. - Troubleshoot incidents and reported bugs to maintain system integrity and performance. - Navigate regulatory requirements and build scalable solutions to support Alpaca’s international growth. - Be available for on-call support to assist with timely engineering projects (as needed). **Who You Are (Must-Haves)** - Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset. - Proficiency in Go (or similar backend languages) and experience designing robust, efficient system architectures. - Strong communication skills to collaborate with global teams, local regulators, vendors, and internal stakeholders. - Ability to act as incident commander and lead/troubleshoot incidents or bugs with authority. - Strong computer science fundamentals and proven software engineering architecture experience. - Ability to work independently in a fully remote, globally distributed team and under pressure in a fast-paced environment. - Strategic thinking and ability to translate technical concepts into business strategies. - Experience with event-driven design. **Who You Might Be (Nice-to-Haves)** - Experience with AI tooling (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or others). - Experience working in a startup or fast-growing technology company. - Knowledge of emerging technologies. - Experience with domain-driven design. - Experience wor
