**Cloud Systems Engineer** **About the Role** DEFCON AI is hiring a Cloud Systems Engineer to administer AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft 365/Entra ID tenant. This senior role covers infrastructure and identity plane with end-to-end ownership, spanning VM provisioning, Infrastructure as Code, tenant administration, endpoint management, automation, and continuous monitoring under defense-sector compliance obligations. **Key Responsibilities** **Cloud Infrastructure & Virtual Systems** • Administer AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, KMS, VPCs, security groups) and Azure (VMs, virtual networks, storage, Key Vault, AVD) • Build hardened VM images and golden images • Implement high availability, auto-scaling, backup, and disaster recovery • Support multi-account/multi-subscription governance structures **Identity & Microsoft 365 Administration** • Own Microsoft 365 tenant end-to-end: Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams • Administer identity plane: Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, privileged access • Manage user lifecycle, Intune endpoint management, SSO/SCIM integrations • Support data governance through Purview and DLP policies **Infrastructure as Code & Automation** • Design and maintain infrastructure using Terraform across AWS and Azure • Automate workflows in PowerShell, Bash, and Python • Integrate provisioning into CI/CD pipelines with policy-as-code guardrails **Security, Compliance & Monitoring** • Apply hardening baselines (CIS, DISA STIGs) • Configure CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub, Microsoft Defender • Support SIEM integration and incident response • Maintain compliance with NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, FedRAMP, SOC 2 **AI Platform Administration** • Administer Anthropic Claude, ChatGPT, AWS Bedrock, Microsoft 365 Copilot • Manage licensing, SSO, data controls, and spend limits **Required Qualifications** • 5+ years systems administration, cloud operations, or infrastructure engineering • 3+ years hands-on AWS production experience • 2+ years administering Microsoft 365 tenant with real admin rights • Hands-on Azure production experience • Demonstrated automation with PowerShell, Bash, Python; working Terraform experience • Strong IAM, encryption, and network segmentation knowledge • Linux and Windows Server cloud experience • DoD/defense environment security requirements experience • Disciplined documentation habits • **US Citizenship Required.
