**Principal Software Engineer, Post Training** **About Waymo** Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips and has autonomously driven over 100 million miles on public roads. **About the Role** The Onboard Software team develops critical software and machine learning models powering the Waymo Driver. As Principal Software Engineer Post Training, you'll develop and lead strategy for a next-generation post-training system on top of large-scale models. You'll advance post-training impact to help scale the Waymo Driver across more miles and locations worldwide. **Hybrid work schedule | Reports to Onboard organization** **Key Responsibilities** • Advance state-of-the-art post-training techniques in onboard autonomous vehicle AI • Monitor post-training research and apply innovations to Waymo's unique challenges • Participate in ML leadership community advancing Waymo's ML stack • Partner with ML platform teams to develop scalable post-training solutions • Guide teams in adopting effective post-training strategies **Required Qualifications** • MS in Computer Science (ML emphasis) or equivalent; PhD preferred • 10+ years leadership experience in large-scale production ML systems • Experience leading production post-training systems with 100M+ users • Experience building metrics, data, and flywheels for post-training • Experience influencing at director/VP level and above • Ability to balance day-to-day leadership with engineering strategy development **Preferred Qualifications** • Experience building post-training platforms from scratch • ML experience in autonomous vehicles and/or robotics **Compensation** $349,000 — $431,000 USD + bonus, equity, and benefits
