**Sr. Manager, Engineering** **About the Role** Lead a critical function at the intersection of AI foundations, proactive experiences, and assistant product experiences at Pinterest. Build and scale teams, set technical direction, and drive execution for the next generation of AI-driven experiences across the platform. **Key Responsibilities** • Define and drive organizational and technical strategy for AI Foundations and Proactive Experiences • Build and lead high-performing engineering teams with senior engineers and tech leads • Partner with Product, Design, Research, and Data Science on roadmap development • Lead development of foundational AI capabilities for context-aware, personalized experiences • Drive multi-year roadmap for reusable AI capabilities across product surfaces • Raise the bar on engineering excellence: reliability, experimentation, privacy, security, and cost efficiency • Establish strong operating mechanisms for technical direction and delivery • Hire, retain, and grow exceptional talent; build healthy engineering culture • Coach managers and senior ICs; build leadership bench for organizational scaling • Partner with senior leadership on investments and high-leverage opportunities **What We're Looking For** • Significant experience leading engineering teams in AI/ML, personalization, or consumer-facing AI systems at scale • Proven success as senior engineering leader managing managers and senior technical leaders • Strong track record driving strategy for large-scale, technically complex organizations • Experience with foundation models, LLMs, personalization, agentic systems, or generative AI • Ability to lead through ambiguity and convert opportunities into clear roadmaps • Strong product judgment and partnership skills across PM, Design, Data Science, and Research • Technical depth and credibility in architecture and platform design • Passion for building strong teams and developing leaders • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent experience **Nice to Have** • Experience in consumer products at global scale • Experience leading AI assistants, proactive recommendation systems, or LLM-powered experiences • Experience scaling organizations through AI infrastructure transitions **Location & Work Model** Seattle, Palo Alto, or San Francisco | In-office 1-2 times/month | Not eligible for relocation **Compensation (US-based)** $208,592 — $429,545 USD + equity
