We're a next-generation financial services company using innovative, mobile-first technology to help millions of members reach their goals. **Role Summary** Lead the data engineering function supporting People Analytics, including AI-assisted workforce analytics on Snowflake. This is a player-coach role requiring hands-on technical leadership plus people leadership. **What You'll Do** **Manage and Develop Data Engineers** • Manage, coach, and grow a team of data engineers • Set expectations for quality, collaboration, and technical ownership • Build strong engineering culture focused on solving hard problems • Collaborate cross-functionally with analysts, scientists, and stakeholders **Stay Hands On** • Write and review production code • Lead design and code reviews • Step into critical pipelines and workflows when needed **Build Scalable People Data Foundations** • Design sustainable data models, pipelines, and testing frameworks • Establish practices for documentation, lineage, and data quality **Own Engineering Standards** • Set standards for SQL, Python, dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, and CI/CD • Ensure reliable, maintainable, secure code • Enforce data governance and compliance policies **Support AI-Enabled Analytics** • Own technical delivery for AI-assisted workforce analytics • Translate business needs into scalable technical designs • Partner on semantic models and quality controls **What You'll Need** • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field • 7+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data platform engineering • 5+ years managing or leading engineers • Proficiency: Python, SQL, dbt, Airflow, GitLab • Experience with dimensional models, semantic layers, and data marts • Strong data quality, testing, and observability knowledge • Experience with sensitive/regulated data and access controls • Proven ability to coach engineers and build healthy technical culture • Proficiency with Snowflake, Redshift, or GCP **Preferred Experience** • People analytics, HR data, compensation, or Workday experience • AI/LLM/RAG product building • Snowflake Cortex AI, Streamlit, or evaluation frameworks • Fintech, banking, or regulated environments **Equal Opportunity** SoFi provides equal employment opportunities without regard to protected characteristics and is committed to an inclusive culture.
