We're the financial technology platform of choice, engineered for ambition. **The Role** As a Staff Engineer in the Payments organization, you'll act as a trusted advisor shaping the future of how businesses and shoppers interact with Adyen's payment platform. Operating at the intersection of mobile technology, point-of-sale systems, and backend services, you'll drive technical direction for Terminal and Mobile experiences. This is a highly hands-on technical leadership role where you'll architect unified shopper journeys, solve complex challenges across the payments ecosystem, and multiply team impact. **What You'll Do** • Build next-generation payment experiences across devices, applications, and payment surfaces • Define and drive long-term technical strategy for mobile apps, SDKs, payment terminals, and distributed backend systems • Lead resolution of complex technical issues involving reliability, performance, security, and global scale • Act as strategic partner to Product, Design, Legal, and other stakeholders • Establish architectural boundaries and integration patterns enabling cross-functional teams • Mentor engineers across levels and champion engineering excellence **Who You Are** • 10+ years hands-on software engineering in production environments at Staff-level scope • 5+ years direct mobile development experience (Android/Kotlin OR iOS/Swift) • Willingness to cross-train on the mobile platform you don't specialize in • Collaborative leader who influences without formal authority • Deep understanding of mobile architecture, SDK design, concurrency, and distributed systems • Strong ownership mindset with ability to drive solutions to completion **Compensation & Details** Annual base salary: $235-$317k, plus RSUs Work authorized in the United States without need for new visa sponsorship **Equal Opportunity** Adyen is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
