## Affirm — Engineering Manager, Software Engineering (App Experiences) Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly—giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest. The Engineering team builds systems that power Affirm’s mission, with a focus on reliable, performant, scalable solutions across the business. The **Marketplace and App Experiences** domain is a core pillar of Affirm’s consumer strategy, driving the user journey across **iOS, Android, and Web**—including the Home hub, product offers and journeys, credit/purchasing experiences, and broader visual/experience redesigns. We’re looking for an **Engineering Manager** to lead front-end facing, cross-team projects—partnering closely with engineers across mobile and web technologies, and collaborating with product experience teams to evolve and improve consumer experiences. ### What You’ll Do - Lead and grow a well-balanced team of engineers (set expectations, give direct feedback, develop engineers toward their next level) - Own the team’s technical strategy and multi-quarter roadmap, tied to major experience initiatives that build customer trust and move Affirm’s business - Empower tech leads and engineers to uphold the design and quality bar; support hands-on through technical design and cross-functional alignment - Own availability, reliability, and performance of consumer-critical systems (on-call, incident response, and reducing operational toil) - Drive alignment across multiple organizations and influence roadmaps for partner experience and foundational teams - Partner across Product, Design, Analytics, and other Engineering teams to build trust and participate in cross-functional efforts ### What We Look For - **7+ years** software engineering experience, including **3+ years** managing and growing engineering teams - Proven experience delivering **consumer-facing** software and driving execution through ambiguity - Strong technical judgment to guide architecture, quality, and reliability decisions; ability to empower senior engineers to make calls - Experience leading significant technical initiatives end-to-end (ideally decoupling or re-platforming consumer-facing systems within clear time constraints) - Familiarity with modern full-stack development (e.g., **React / React Native** and a backend-for-frontend) - Calm, decisive leadership through change and ambiguity; ability to build alignment and resolve tensions - Humble, team-first leadership; builds high-trust, psychologically safe culture - Strong analytical/problem-solving skills balancing customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints - Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and organizational influence skills - Proven ability to build alignment and drive outcomes in complex environments without direct authority - Requires equivalent practical experience or a **Bachelor’s degree** in a related field ### Compensation & Location - **Pay Grade:** P - **Equity Grade:** 13 - **USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT):** $230,000 – $290,000/year - **USA base pay range (all other U.S. states):** $204,000 – $264,000/year - **#LI-Remote** Affirm is **remote-first**: most roles are remote and you can work almost anywhere within your country of employment.
