**Senior Android Engineer II, Digital Twin Platform** **About the Role** The Digital Twin Platform team at Instacart is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to build next-generation Android applications powering store view and Connected Stores programs. You'll have real ownership of complex technical problems and directly shape how grocers and shoppers experience Instacart technology in physical retail. **Key Responsibilities** • Design, build, and own Android applications for the Digital Twin Platform, including standalone scanning apps and Android-native experiences • Serve as technical leader for Android development, setting architectural direction and establishing best practices • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Caper, Inventory Intelligence, Fulfillment) to deliver real-time shelf intelligence solutions • Balance long-term architectural thinking with the ability to ship and iterate quickly in a fast-moving environment • Help define Android engineering standards for the Digital Twin Platform and beyond **Minimum Qualifications** • 5+ years of professional Android development with Kotlin and/or Java • Deep expertise in Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and modern architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture) • Experience designing and building Android applications from the ground up • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments • Strong communication and collaboration skills **Preferred Qualifications** • Experience with enterprise tools, hardware integrations, or scanning/barcode workflows • Familiarity with Connected Stores technology or retail hardware platforms • Experience with Bluetooth, NFC, camera APIs, or hardware peripheral integrations • Background in data-intensive applications or inventory/logistics systems • Willingness to contribute to adjacent technical domains **Compensation** (US-based) CA, NY, CT, NJ: $230,000–$242,500 | WA: $220,000–$232,000 | OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI: $211,000–$222,500 | All other states: $192,000–$202,500 **Work Style** Flex First remote role with flexibility to work from home, office, or your preferred location. *Instacart is transforming the grocery industry by bringing real-time shelf intelligence to life.*
