**Staff Software Engineer, Developer Experience (DevX) — Anthropic** **About Anthropic** Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems—safe and beneficial for users and society. **About the role** The Claude Platform serves developers and enterprises at scale. The Developer Experience (DevX) team owns the surfaces developers use every day: the Console, the docs platform, and our SDKs and CLI. You’ll help make the platform easy to adopt, trustworthy for building critical applications, and fast to evolve as new model and API capabilities become available. This work spans two areas: - **DevX Core:** Drive technical direction for the Console and docs platform (from problem definition through launch). The Console is also the front door for internal teams shipping features—so you’ll set platform patterns and standards. - **SDKs:** Own SDKs across **seven languages** plus the **CLI**. Partner with API teams early so new platform capabilities land in the SDKs as idiomatic, ergonomic features on day one. Drive code generation, testing, and release pipelines to keep languages consistent and shipping quickly. **What you’ll do** - Lead technical direction and delivery for developer-facing Console and docs experiences. - Set platform patterns, standards, and component architectures. - Own SDKs (7 languages) and the CLI, ensuring consistent, high-quality integration across ecosystems. - Partner with API teams to ensure new capabilities are reflected in SDKs from day one. - Drive code generation, testing, and release processes to maintain parity across languages. - Collaborate cross-team to align on impactful work and ship outcomes. **You might be a good fit if you:** - Have **8+ years** of practical full-stack engineering experience, ideally with **2+ years** at a **Staff (or equivalent) leadership** level. - Have led design and delivery of complex, developer-facing products across the full stack. - Are a technical expert in modern frontend and backend development (e.g., **React, TypeScript**), with demonstrated depth in key languages/frameworks. - Take a product-focused approach: robust, scalable, and easy to use. - Have experience in early-stage or fast-moving environments; ideally built products **0 → 1**. - Invest in mentorship and the growth of peers. - Have driven cross-team/cross-org alignment with influence over authority. - Have experience establishing engineering standards and development best practices. - Thrive in fast-paced environments and can navigate ambiguity to deliver high-quality products. **Deadline to apply** None — applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. **Location preference** Preference for candidates based in **NY** or the **Bay Area** (based on current team location). **Compensation** - **Annual Salary:** **$405,000 — $485,000 USD** **Logistics** - **Minimum education:** Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/training/experience. - **Required field of study:** Relevant to the role (via coursework, training, or experience). - **Minimum years of experience:** Correlates with internal job level. - **Hybrid policy:** Expect staff to be in an office at least **25%** of the time (some roles may require more). - **Visa sponsorship:** Yes—Anthropic makes reasonable efforts to sponsor visas, with support from an immigration lawyer. **Encouragement to apply** You’re encouraged to apply even if you don’t meet every qualification.
