**SpaceX — Sr. Software Engineer, Starlink Enterprise Product (Space Lasers)** Starlink is SpaceX’s satellite constellation delivering high-speed broadband internet to remote areas worldwide. As a **Sr. Software Engineer** on the Enterprise Product Software team, you’ll own software for the bring-up and operation of new Starlink products, including: - **Plaser**: space laser product connecting third-party vehicles to the Starlink constellation - **Community Gateway**: terrestrial very high throughput parabolic antenna - **Starlink Aviation**: enabling tens of millions of passengers to experience Starlink worldwide (and more to-be-launched products) You’ll drive features across the stack—**embedded applications, backend systems, and user interfaces**—and help close the feedback loop between software design and real-world performance. --- **Responsibilities** - Design and implement **highly available, fault-tolerant devices** operating for long periods with minimal maintenance - Participate in and lead **architecture, design, and code reviews** - Identify opportunities to improve **experience, reliability, and efficiency** - Develop **prototypes** and manage **experiments** to validate key design concepts - Write **quality Linux-based software** for common processors and microcontrollers - Develop **hardware-in-the-loop testbeds** and test cases --- **Basic Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science - **5+ years** of professional software development experience --- **Preferred Skills and Experience** - Deep expertise in technologies you’ve worked in (able to answer “5 whys”) - Curiosity and willingness to question requirements and push technical boundaries - Experience with **embedded systems** - Experience launching and operating **consumer or enterprise products** - Creative problem-solving, strong analytical skills, and solid engineering fundamentals - Excellent written and verbal communication - Knowledge of **networking** and the **Linux networking stack** - Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with changing needs --- **Compensation and Benefits** - **Pay Range (Level 3): $165,000.00 – $270,000.00** - Base salary is only one part of total rewards; may include long-term incentives (stock/long-term cash awards), potential discretionary bonuses, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan - Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage; 401(k); disability and life insurance; paid parental leave - Paid vacation (up to 3 weeks) and 10+ paid holidays per year; sick time per state/federal law - Company shuttles from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office (Mon–Fri) --- **ITAR Requirements** To comply with U.S. export regulations, applicants must be a **U.S. citizen/national**, **U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder)**, **refugee**, **asylee**, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. --- SpaceX is an **Equal Opportunity Employer**.
