**Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, Feature Flags** **Role Overview** Partner directly with customers to accelerate their feature flag implementations—from initial architecture consulting through prototype builds to full-scale migrations. Write code with customers, not just advise them. Work hands-on inside customer codebases to unblock complex, high-stakes deployments. **What You'll Do** • Serve as hands-on technical partner for strategic customers implementing Datadog Feature Flags • Consult on flag architecture and implementation for complex, multi-service, high-scale deployments • Build prototype flag implementations directly in customer codebases • Implement flags across diverse deployment modes (server-side, client-side, edge, mobile, streaming) • Drive full flag migrations to completion with minimal customer engineering burden • Identify patterns and feed insights back to Product and Engineering • Collaborate with Engineering on technical edge cases and product gaps • Partner with Sales and Solutions to accelerate deal cycles **Who You Are** • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with hands-on coding ability • Experience with feature flagging, experimentation, or config management systems • Comfortable dropping into unfamiliar codebases, languages, and frameworks quickly • Experience shipping production code, not just prototypes • Customer-facing experience or strong motivation to build it • Skilled at simplifying complex technical tradeoffs • Motivated by outcomes: deal velocity, successful migrations, customer trust • Comfortable operating with ambiguity **Bonus Points** • Forward-deployed, consulting, or professional services engineering experience • Large-scale system migration exposure • Startup or fast-scaling environment experience **Location & Benefits** Based in New York City.
