**Attentive® — Engineering Manager, Segmentation** *About the Role* Attentive is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of backend engineers building the scalable, reliable systems that power our platform. You’ll balance people leadership, technical direction, and execution while partnering closely with Product and other engineering teams to deliver meaningful customer and business outcomes. You’ll develop and grow a high-performing team, guide technical and architectural decisions, and create clarity around complex initiatives—helping ensure our systems and engineering practices evolve as Attentive continues to scale. *What You’ll Accomplish* - 2+ years of experience managing software engineers and 7+ years of professional software engineering experience - Strong technical foundation in backend engineering, distributed systems, APIs, data modeling, and scalable application architecture - Experience building and operating high-volume production systems with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability - Proven ability to guide technical and architectural decisions, evaluate tradeoffs, and lead complex initiatives from design through production - Experience hiring, coaching, providing feedback, managing performance, and developing engineers at different stages of their careers - Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to create clarity and alignment across Engineering, Product, and other stakeholders - Experience using modern development practices and AI-powered engineering tools to improve team productivity and software quality *What We Use* - Java and Spring Boot microservices (Gradle) - DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, and Redis - Kubernetes on AWS EKS - Istio, Datadog, Terraform, Cloudflare, and Helm - Distributed, event-driven systems processing large volumes of data and customer interactions - Python and a variety of machine learning and data technologies *Compensation (US applicants)* - Base salary range: **$210,000 – $240,000 annually** + equity + benefits - Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location *Company Values* - **Default to Action** — Move swiftly and with purpose - **Be One Unstoppable Team** — Rally as each other’s champions - **Champion the Customer** — Our success is defined by our customers’ success - **Act Like an Owner** — Take responsibility for Attentive’s success *Equal Opportunity* Attentive is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.
