**Senior Data Engineer — Revenue Data Platform (Datadog)** **About Datadog** Datadog is on a mission to build the best platform for engineers to understand and scale their systems, applications, and teams—at high scale, with a culture that values pragmatism, honesty, and simplicity. **The Team** - **Revenue Data Engineering Teams**: Design, build, and run data pipelines and helper systems to quantify customer usage across all Datadog products. - **Revenue Data Processing**: Build and operate pipelines for **billing** and **cost attribution** across all Datadog products. Processes terabytes of data daily to power revenue-critical systems and support new product launches. **Role Overview** As a **Senior Software Engineer**, you’ll own meaningful parts of a large-scale, mission-critical processing platform—driving architectural improvements, building new billing capabilities, and maintaining the reliability bar downstream consumers depend on. **You Will** - Design and build **high-throughput data pipelines** for billing and cost attribution - Drive platform improvements (e.g., **latency reduction**, Spark optimization, **sharding**, cross-datacenter reliability) - Own **root-cause investigations** on billing accuracy issues with Finance and Product partners - Contribute to **new billing features** - Work across **Python and Scala** using **Spark, Airflow, Trino, and Apache Iceberg** - Participate in **on-call rotation** and maintain high reliability for production systems - Contribute to engineering standards and help grow the team’s technical culture **You Are** - Experienced building and operating production data pipelines at scale with **Spark** and **Airflow** - Comfortable owning complex, cross-functional investigations and driving them to resolution - Able to balance feature delivery with platform health and technical debt - Analytical and rigorous about **correctness** in data systems - Effective in ambiguous environments; can drive alignment across stakeholders - Care about code quality, maintainability, and operational excellence **Bonus Points** - Experience with **Apache Iceberg** or **Lakehouse** architectures - Experience with **billing, metering, or financial data** systems - Experience with **low-latency data serving** or real-time aggregation pipelines **Location / Work Style** - **#LI-Hybrid** **Compensation (US, estimated)** - **$192,000 — $240,000 USD** (salary range may include variable compensation) **Equal Opportunity** Datadog is an equal opportunity employer and provides equal employment opportunity to all qualified individuals.
