The Airbnb Payments team supports this mission by economically empowering Airbnb businesses and the global community of guests and hosts. Airbnb Payments enables frictionless money exchange through easy-to-use payments services. The team builds and maintains an in-house global payments platform to reach the scale and coverage required (moving billions of dollars across 191 countries, 75 currencies), including adding new partners, licenses, compliance/regulation controls, and new payment experiences. **Teams** - **Payments Transactions**: builds the core billing system and orchestrates/records payment obligations. - **Payments Payouts**: builds the payouts system for Airbnb money movements. **The Difference You Will Make** We’re looking for talented, self-motivated Senior Software Engineers to design and build scalable systems in a highly dynamic domain. You’ll collaborate closely with product, data science, and operations to understand evolving business needs and help make Airbnb’s payments platform the safest and easiest to use. **A Typical Day** - Work on multi-team technical initiatives and cross-functionally identify opportunities for business impact. - Architect and implement complex features with data-driven decision making and performance optimization. - Collaborate with other engineering teams to advance engineering processes and technical foundations. - Drive systemic improvements to streamline development, reduce toil, and increase technical quality and operational excellence. - Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code walkthroughs, and knowledge-sharing. **Your Expertise** - 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience. - 1+ years of relevant Payments/Fintech backend experience is a plus. - Experience leading design, implementation, and deployment of high-scale, cross-functional payment systems. - Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in CS (or equivalent experience). - Technical leadership: hands-on experience leading project teams, setting technical direction, and mentoring engineers. - Passion for efficiency, availability, technical quality, and system quality. - Ability to level up others through curiosity and fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment. - Proven experience defining product/technical strategy and driving alignment across stakeholders. - Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams, departments, and leadership. **Your Location** US - Remote Eligible. Occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be required as agreed with your manager.
