**Senior Back End Software Engineer** **Location:** Cambridge, MA / Hybrid *In-office 3 days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.* **About EverQuote** EverQuote is a leading AI-powered growth solutions partner for regulated property and casualty insurance entities. We help insurance carriers and agents maximize customer acquisition across digital channels using proprietary data assets and an AI traffic engine. **About the role** EverQuote is seeking a **Senior Back End Software Engineer** to architect, build, and scale systems that power our core business. You’ll also mentor engineers, drive technical excellence, and help foster a collaborative, growth-oriented environment. **What you’ll do** - Design, build, and maintain scalable, performant, and reliable back-end applications and microservices. - Mentor and guide engineers across the team, providing technical insights and helping others unblock complex problems. - Partner with product, data, and business teams to translate technical concepts into high-impact products. - Modernize and optimize infrastructure using microservices, containers, and modern automation tools. **What you bring to the team** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/engineering (or related) or equivalent hands-on experience. - 5+ years in a high-growth software product company. - Strong background building production-grade applications using server-side languages such as **Python, Java, or Go**. - Familiarity with streaming data platforms, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud-native infrastructure (**AWS/GCP**). - Deep experience designing microservices architectures and deploying with **Docker** and **Kubernetes**. - Experience leveraging modern software tools (e.g., **Claude, GitHub Copilot, Codex**) to increase productivity and code quality. - Passion for knowledge-sharing, code reviews, and helping teammates elevate their technical skills. - Comfort using data and key metrics to guide architecture decisions and validate concepts. **Compensation & eligibility** - Base salary range (full-time hybrid): **$150,700 – $177,300** (determined by skills, experience, education/training, and location). - Total compensation may include variable cash bonus programs, equity, and health/welfare/wellbeing benefits (role-dependent). - **No employment visa sponsorship** (now or in the future).
