Everything we do is engineered for ambition. **Role overview** The **Identity and Access Management (IAM)** group is responsible for **authentication and authorization** of human and system users across the platform. These teams ensure users can securely and seamlessly access the resources they need—while maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of Adyen’s systems. Because these functions are critical, the group focuses on **reliability**, building and maintaining **robust, highly available, and fault-tolerant** systems. As a **Team Lead / Engineering Manager** within IAM, you’ll take technical responsibility for these vital systems. You’ll collaborate closely with the other IAM teams, plus product teams and stakeholders across the company, to ensure solutions meet both technical excellence and broader business/user needs. --- ### What you will do - Work closely with **Product and Engineering** teams to define and deliver the next version of **Authentication and Authorization** at Adyen - Ensure **reliability, performance, and scalability** for critical authentication/authorization flows - **Lead hands-on**: code, participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and system design to uphold best practices - Ensure high performance by **mentoring and coaching engineers** and setting a high-quality bar - Foster an inspiring, inclusive culture of **ownership, autonomy, collaboration, accountability, and open communication/feedback** - Effectively manage **stakeholders** across the company ### Who you are - **3+ years** of experience leading engineering teams and delivering impactful, scalable solutions - Strong software engineering foundation with **deep system design** skills and hands-on experience with **Java, Postgres, and Redis** - Prioritize **reliability and scalability**, with experience in **critical, high-load, distributed systems** - Hands-on and collaborative—engaging deeply with your team while fostering a supportive, learning-driven environment - Set a high bar for **high-quality, maintainable code** and scalable solutions - Strong mentor/coach who helps the team grow while maintaining performance and accountability - Growth mindset: continuously learning and adopting new practices to stay ahead of industry trends --- ### Compensation & benefits - Annual base salary range: **$198,000 – $293,000** - Total compensation may include **equity (RSUs), 401(k), health, dental, vision, and more** ### In-office expectations - Based in **San Francisco** - Office-first: expect to work **in-office at least 3 days/week on average** ### Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Adyen encourages candidates to apply even if they don’t meet 100% of qualifications.
