Middle Office is where Carta’s two client bases meet: cap table products for companies and fund administration products for funds. Middle Office serves the investment firm between them and owns what happens after the check clears—collecting data from portfolio companies, valuing holdings, modeling fund outcomes, and reporting results to LPs. You’ll work across a connected suite of products for PE/VC firms, fund administrators, and institutional investors, with a primary focus on: - AI-powered ingestion of portfolio company financials and KPIs - Portfolio valuation and allocation models - Waterfall and fund forecasting across complex multi-entity structures - A unified view of a firm’s holdings (including companies that don’t use Carta for equity management) Sitting in the middle of Carta’s ERP, most of what you build ships in partnership with other teams. **The Problems You’ll Solve** Within the Middle Office pillar, you’ll be responsible for the long-term technical health and success of the business unit. You’ll: - **Navigate ambiguity:** Tackle the most complex, poorly defined problems and break them into paths the organization can execute. - **Champion systemic improvement:** Identify and eliminate failure patterns across multiple systems, driving architectural changes that improve scalability and reliability. - **Bridge technical gaps:** Align multiple teams on major technical decisions using deep cross-functional domain understanding. - **Define the AI frontier:** Lead how Carta builds—defining context and building the rails that help everyone use AI tools safely and effectively. - **Uphold engineering standards:** Set the vision for operational excellence and mentor senior engineers to raise the organization’s craft. **About You** - **The Tech Stack:** Expert in distributed systems. Primary stack: Python/Django, React, Postgres. Comfortable guiding direction across JVM languages, gRPC, and cloud-native infrastructure (AWS). - **Leadership:** Lead through influence—role model for constructive communication and technical discipline. - **Vision:** Anticipate future roadblocks and build systems that support long-term business growth. - **Experience:** 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of high-level technical leadership. **Salary** Carta’s compensation includes market-competitive salary, equity for full-time roles, exceptional benefits, and (where applicable) commissions. Minimum cash compensation range for this role: - **$240,000 - $300,000** (San Francisco, CA) Final offers may vary based on geography, candidate experience/expertise, and other factors. **Disclosures** -
