**About Anthropic** Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems—safe and beneficial for users and society. **About the role** Build and operate the secure execution environment behind Claude’s agentic capabilities. When Claude writes/runs code, browses the web, or uses a computer, that work runs on infrastructure your team owns. You’ll work at the intersection of systems engineering and security to make untrusted code execution safe, fast, and reliable at scale. **What you’ll do** - Independently scope complex, multi-month projects - Drive cross-org alignment through ambiguous problem spaces - Make architectural decisions that shape how Anthropic builds and scales products - Partner with research to productize cutting-edge capabilities - Create lasting impact on the platform used daily by hundreds of thousands of companies and engineers **You might be a good fit if you:** - Have 8+ years of practical experience as a backend or platform engineer building scalable distributed systems (ideally at tech lead level or equivalent) - Strong fundamentals in service-oriented architectures, networking, and systems design (owning both vision and end-to-end execution) - Proficient in Python, Go, Rust, or similar systems languages - Experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS/Azure), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and/or multi-cloud networking - Take full ownership from design through deployment and operations - Navigate ambiguity and make sound technical decisions independently (including 0→1 and/or mature team/company experience) - Take a product-focused approach to platform work—building robust, scalable, and easy-to-use solutions **Compensation** - Annual Salary: **$405,000 – $485,000 USD** **Location / Logistics** - Location preference: NY, SEA, SF, or Bay Area (based on current team location) - Hybrid policy: expected in an office at least **25%** of the time (some roles may require more) - Visa sponsorship: **Yes** (not guaranteed for every role/candidate) - Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/training/experience **Deadline to apply** - None — applications reviewed on a rolling basis. **Safety note (scams)** Anthropic recruiters only contact candidates from **@anthropic.com** (or vetted agencies acting on Anthropic’s behalf).
