The Experimentation team is responsible for building the tools, systems, and processes that empower Discord employees to continually test hypotheses and improve our product in a data-informed way. We’re looking for a **Staff Software Engineer** to lead the development of Discord’s next-generation experimentation platform, including building **AI-assisted experimentation workflows**. You’ll lead and mentor engineers, fostering their growth and enhancing their skills. ### What you’ll be doing - Design, build, and support Discord’s next generation experimentation platform (core services, data pipelines, configuration tooling, statistical analysis tools, and UX) - Collaborate with external stakeholders and customers across the company (including non-technical partners) - Understand and influence product telemetry practices to support experimentation needs - Build delightful user experiences and high-scale data systems powering internal teams and product features used by millions of users daily - Deliver business results by collaborating with stakeholders across Discord to experiment on features, machine learning models, and more ### What you should have - **7+ years** of experience as a full-stack SWE - Experience building internal tools; familiarity with **A/B testing** and statistical frameworks - Experience with experimentation tooling (building core experimentation platform components from scratch is a plus) - Proven ability to lead complex technical projects with successful outcomes—turn high-level goals into shippable solutions - Experience building systems with strong **data governance** controls that respect privacy and security - Proficiency in **Python** and **SQL** (TypeScript or Rust is a plus) - Experience with a variety of datastores (relational, NoSQL, data warehouse solutions) - Strong product sense and communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally - A track record of developing engineers at multiple levels and staying current with industry trends
