Anduril’s systems are powered by **Lattice OS**, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a real-time, 3D command and control center. **About the Team** The **Sentry Tower Software** team develops robotic systems for **force protection**—monitoring the perimeter of secure areas (land or sea) for approaching people, vehicles, and vessels. The team leverages **sensor fusion** and **autonomy** to render activity in the environment to Lattice’s common operating picture. **About the Job** Underneath every Sentry Tower is a custom carrier board wrapped around an **NVIDIA Jetson module**, with cameras, radars, CAN-connected sensor boards, GPS, radios, and motor controllers. This role owns the critical integration layer that ensures the board **boots reliably** and that **every hardware component comes up correctly** when the image boots. You’ll work at the seam between: - The **platform organization** (maintains the underlying **NixOS platform** and vendor BSP integration) - The **Sentry product** (must boot and run on real towers) You’ll be the technical counterpart who can precisely diagnose why a tower doesn’t come up and determine whether the fix belongs to the product or the platform. **What You’ll Do** - Own the **boot path end to end** across every compute generation shipped: firmware, UEFI, unified kernel image + command line, initrd, encrypted root unlock, and handoff into a running NixOS system. - Ensure **full hardware availability at boot**: deterministic enumeration of buses, peripherals, and network interfaces that survives platform/kernel upgrades. - Own **carrier board device trees**: produce and maintain **DTS/DTSI/overlay** changes from hardware pinout/pinmux definitions and validate on real boards. - Create and carry forward **kernel/bootloader/BSP patches** when vendor trees don’t provide required behavior. - Serve as the primary technical liaison to the platform org: file/drive issues with clear reproductions, evaluate upstream changes, and land product-side integration for new platform releases. - Sustain deployed compute generations through vendor lifecycle transitions with security patches/backports. - Support new hardware bring-up with electrical engineers and the platform team, owning the boot + device tree side to reach a validated, production-flashable state. - Debug difficult field issues: intermittent bus errors, thermal/power faults, boot hangs, and failures that reproduce only on specific units. **Required Qualifications** - **4+ years** of professional software engineering with substantial embedded Linux platform, board support, or kernel-adjacent integration work. - Deep understanding of the **embedded Linux boot chain** (firmware/bootloader stages, UEFI, kernel/initrd, kernel command line, root filesystem mounting, and failure modes). - **Device tree fluency** (DTS/DTSI/overlays) and ability to map pinout/pinmux specs to device tree changes. - Ability to read/patch/debug **kernel and BSP source** in **C**, plus proficiency in **Rust or C++** for dependent userspace services. - Practical peripheral/bus knowledge across **CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, USB, and multi-port Ethernet**. - Comfort debugging real hardware: serial consoles, boot logs (e.g., `dmesg`), and reading sc
