## Staff Software Engineer — AI Enablement (Developer Experience & AI Platform) **ID.me** is the next-generation digital identity wallet that helps people securely prove their identity online and reuse it across websites—without having to re-verify. ### Role Overview ID.me is seeking a **Staff Software Engineer (SDE V — Developer Experience & AI Platform)** to lead the technical design, architecture, and execution of an **internal developer platform** and **AI-driven automation infrastructure**. You’ll build internal developer tools, **multi-agent workflows**, and **LLM orchestration** systems focused on **engineering workflows** (e.g., service scaffolding, CI/CD automation, and developer-facing tooling). This role is **not** focused on customer-facing conversational bots or member-support automation. **Location:** On-site **5 days/week** in **Mountain View, CA** (remote/hybrid not considered). ### Responsibilities - **Architect AI-augmented developer tools**: internal platforms, service scaffolding, and automated CI/CD tooling - **Design agentic systems & LLM orchestration** (e.g., LangGraph, foundation model APIs) - **Develop workflow abstractions** using **DSLs** and **FSMs** to model and route multi-agent tasks - **Manage stateful context** with near real-time memory (NRTM) and shared session management - **Build resilient distributed systems** using **Redis**, **Kafka**, and custom **DLQ** bridges - **Establish AI guardrails & governance**: reduce hallucinations, enforce strict logging/safety so sensitive data isn’t exposed - **Observability & health monitoring**: microservices telemetry and automated health checks feeding internal Datadog dashboards - **Technical leadership & mentorship**: coach engineers, lead architecture reviews, set standards - **Measure & optimize DevEx**: onboarding time, deployment success rates, and automation velocity ### Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in CS/Software Engineering or related field - **8+ years** backend/distributed/core platform engineering experience - **2+ years** operating at **Staff/Principal** scope - Demonstrated technical leadership (mentoring **2+ engineers**, leading architecture reviews, or serving as primary tech lead) - Strong hands-on coding in **Java, Python, or Go** - Deep experience with **microservices**, **REST**, and **event-driven architectures** ### Preferred Qualifications - Hands-on **AI agents / LLM orchestration** (LangGraph, AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, Anthropic) - **Terraform** experience - Experience building **DSLs**, **FSMs**, and dynamic agent routing - Data/state infrastructure: **Redis, Kafka, PostgreSQL**, NoSQL, streaming platforms - Platform infrastructure: **Docker/Kubernetes** and **AWS** - Reliability patterns: **DLQs**, sidecar monitoring, automated secret management, self-healing - Cross-functional influence and collaboration with product/security teams ### Pay Range (Mountain View, CA) **$217,565 — $260,000 USD** (base salary; bonus/equity/benefits vary by experience and other factors) ### Benefits (Highlights) Comprehensive medical/dental/vision, HSA/FSA options, life/AD&D, **401(k) match**, parental leave, unlimited PTO (per policy), disability insurance, referral bonus, EAP, learning & development benefit, and more. --- *ID.me is an equal opportunity employer and provides reasonable accommodations where required by law.*
