Everything we do is engineered for ambition. **Role: Software Engineer II — Bank Accounts Team** Join the nascent US Bank Accounts team to build products that enable businesses to open, manage, and move money directly within our ecosystem. You’ll help evolve and scale existing capabilities, refine customer experiences, and build new products that expand our offering. As an early member of the team, you’ll shape technical design, architecture, and roadmap decisions; own projects end-to-end; and help define the team’s culture and identity. This Chicago-based role is part of the broader Financial Services product organization. --- **What you’ll do** - Work on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, and launch - Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices - Be hands-on: contribute to implementation and improve platform components for robustness and scalability - Build with scale in mind—your code will be used at scale - Launch fast and iterate often; within your first few weeks, deliver live functionality impacting many merchants and shoppers - Build APIs and tooling with quality principles (e.g., performance and code quality) - Collaborate across teams and time zones to deliver projects --- **Who you are** - You enjoy seeing the big picture and understanding how your code impacts the business - You have experience with Java, Web Services, REST APIs, and SQL/PostgreSQL; Kafka and Elasticsearch are a plus - You understand software engineering practices and have interest in product knowledge - You’re familiar with complex, large-scale distributed systems - You value involving others to hear different perspectives - Bonus: experience in customer developer experience (tooling, observability) or payment-related teams --- **Minimum qualifications** - 5+ years of experience in software development - Full professional proficiency in English - Based in Chicago office (office-first; remote-only roles are not offered) --- **Compensation & Total Rewards** - Annual base salary range: **$154,000 - $200,000** - Total compensation includes equity (RSUs), 401(k), health, dental, vision, and more --- **In-office expectations** - Chicago-based role - Office-first company: expect in-office work at least **3 days per week on average** --- **Work eligibility** - Must be work authorized in the United States without the need for new visa sponsorship - The company can support visa transfers but will not sponsor individuals for H-1B CAP applications --- **What’s next** - We aim to respond within **5 business days** - Interview process typically takes about **4 weeks** (may vary by role) **EEO statement** Adyen is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on legally protected characteristics.
