**Forward Deployed Engineer, AI Labs** Via is transforming public transportation systems globally through smart, data-driven technology. We're launching **AI Labs** — an incubator-style team operating like a startup within the company — to expand beyond transit with cutting-edge AI solutions. **About the Role:** • Build and ship production-grade AI products end-to-end, owning problem framing through deployment • Work forward-deployed with customers to understand problems and iterate on agentic solutions • Lead technical scoping workshops with city leaders to solve local challenges • Contribute to intelligent tooling: data consolidation, predictive modeling, real-time decision-making, LLM-powered experiences • Collaborate with product, data science, and operations teams on high-impact AI opportunities • Write clean, scalable backend and frontend code — design APIs, manage data flows, ensure reliability at scale • Shape AI Labs' technical culture from the ground up • Stay at the frontier of AI development and bring new ideas to the team **About You:** • 5+ years building full-stack applications with end-to-end ownership • 3+ years working with AI tools and/or building AI-powered products • Deep expertise across the AI stack: LLMs, predictive modeling, production data infrastructure • Strong backend engineer with experience in scalable APIs and distributed systems • Energized by ambiguity and early-stage environments; take ownership proactively • Strong cross-functional communication and intellectual curiosity • Comfortable working directly with users/customers and traveling for on-site collaboration **Compensation (US only):** Salary Range: $160,000 - $220,000 + equity, variable pay, comprehensive benefits (medical, 401K matching, catered lunch, and more)
