We’re a licensed financial services company serving hundreds of financial institutions across 40 countries with institutional-grade APIs—supporting broker-dealers, investment advisors, wealth managers, hedge funds, and crypto exchanges (10M+ brokerage accounts). **Your Role** As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll help build and scale the systems and services that power Alpaca and enable millions of users trading billions in assets. The Market Data team improves Alpaca’s architecture connected to data products (stocks, options, crypto, FX). You’ll help oversee the public API structure and documentation for both streaming and historical endpoints, and work on new services and libraries to solve technical challenges as we scale rapidly. **Things You Get To Do** - Design highly scalable, mission-critical market data provider services - Maintain software quality and test coverage - Participate in code reviews - Troubleshoot incidents and reported bugs **Who You Are (Must-Haves)** - BSc/MSc (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related field - 3+ years of backend software development experience - Hands-on experience with Docker or Kubernetes - DevOps mindset - Excited about what we’re building at Alpaca - Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies **Who You Might Be (Nice-to-Haves)** - Experience working with large datasets - Kubernetes experience (CKA/CKAD is a plus) - Experience with SQL - Experience with IP networking - Understanding of financial markets - Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) - Hands-on knowledge with shell scripting, Linux & Docker - Knowledge of microservice architectures - Knowledge of clean code principles **Tech & Infrastructure Stack** - Go (primary), Python - REST, gRPC, Websockets, SSE - Docker, Kubernetes - Google Cloud Services (GKE, BigTable) - Prometheus, Grafana, ELK **How We Take Care of You** - Competitive salary & stock options - Health benefits - New hire home-office setup: **$500 (one-time, USD)** - Monthly stipend: **$150/month (USD)** via a Brex Card *Alpaca is an equal opportunity workplace committed to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce.*
