Seeing others use capabilities you built and hearing, “Wow, I can’t believe how easy that was.” As a cloud-based IT organization, Expel is breaking the traditional mold and looking for someone with the wit and determination to help make employees’ day-to-day work simpler. --- ## What you’ll do - Keep Expel’s IT infrastructure and services secure and highly available—from cloud platforms down to equipment in conference rooms. - Manage access across the employee lifecycle (new hires to offboarding). - Own large cross-functional projects end to end. - Reduce manual work by building automations and streamlining operations. - Provide friendly, unflappable technical support. - Be the point of contact for the systems and services you own. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify integration issues, solve errors, and optimize performance. - Apply AI tooling (e.g., Claude and Gemini) to accelerate day-to-day work. - Manage IT-owned technology at Expel HQ, including network equipment, conference room/AV equipment, kiosk computers, and other shared-space systems. - Keep people in the loop on service disruptions and changes. - Work alongside the security team to protect information. - Contribute to the team’s roadmap and deliver work in two-week sprints against quarterly and yearly goals. - Build and routinely update documentation on automations, configurations, and operating procedures. --- ## What you should bring - Proficiency managing core enterprise SaaS products such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft 365. - Experience automating tasks and integrating systems using Workato, Okta Workflows, or Microsoft Power Automate. - Experience with AI platforms like Anthropic Claude and Google Gemini (including prompt engineering and connecting systems via emerging standards like MCP). - Knowledge of SAML, OIDC, SCIM, REST APIs, webhooks, JWT, and OAuth 2.0. - Programming/scripting experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, and/or Ruby. - macOS and Windows administration experience, including MDMs like Jamf and Intune. - Familiarity with conference room AV and shared-space tech (e.g., Zoom Rooms, Neat devices). - Knowledge of Cisco Meraki and networking fundamentals (VLANs, DNS, DHCP, wireless networking). - Strong project management skills for large cross-functional projects. - Ability to balance urgent, interrupt-driven tasks with project work. - Excellent written and verbal communication and customer-service mindset. - Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences. - Strong problem-solving skills and drive to get to root causes. - Well-versed in IT operations best practices. - 5+ years professional IT experience, with 2+ years in an engineering or sysadmin capacity. - A college degree or credible “panache.” --- ## Additional notes - **Location:** Onsite, in-person at Expel HQ in **Herndon, Virginia**. Must be located within the **Washington, D.C. metropolitan area**. - **Compensation:** Base salary range **$93,900–$136,200 USD** + bonus eligibility and equity.
