About this role
**Software Engineer, Fulfillment Core Services** Lyft’s **Core Services** powers the passenger and driver state machines—from request and accept through drop-off and payment completion. The team builds distributed **Python and Go** systems that sit at the center of Lyft’s backend, enabling new ride variations like autonomous vehicles, taxis, scheduled rides, business concierge, health, and more. ## Responsibilities - Design, develop, deploy, monitor, operate, and maintain existing or new elements of the Fulfillment tech stack - Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable code - Understand and explain tradeoffs behind technical decisions - Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge - Lead projects from idea to positive execution - Proactively participate in resolving ongoing incidents - Unblock, support, communicate effectively, and obtain buy-in across teams to achieve results - Share knowledge via brown bags, tech talks, and evangelizing best practices ## Experience - BS/MS (or equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or relevant work experience - 2+ years of software engineering industry experience - Proficiency in object-oriented programming - Experience designing, debugging, and running fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systems - Experience with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) - Proficiency in scripting languages to automate manual processes via APIs - Experience with CI tools (e.g., Jenkins, Buildkite, CircleCI, TeamCity), and proficiency in at least one - Solid knowledge of distributed systems, relational and NoSQL databases - Ability to communicate in English (writing, meetings, presentations) ## Benefits - Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options (plus additional programs) - Mental health benefits - Family building benefits - Child care and pet benefits - 401(k) plan with company match - Paid time off: 12 observed holidays + discretionary PTO for salaried roles; 15 days PTO for hourly roles - 18 weeks of paid parental leave (biological, adoptive, and foster parents eligible) - Subsidized commuter benefits - Monthly Lyft credits and complimentary Lyft Pink membership ## Hybrid / Location - In-office on a hybrid schedule: **3 days per week** (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) - Hybrid roles may work from anywhere for up to **4 weeks per year** ## Pay (Seattle) - Expected base pay range: **$128,000 – $160,000** (not inclusive of potential equity, bonus, or benefits) Lyft is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive workplace.
