**Senior Software Engineer (Java) — Banking Accounts** **About Adyen** Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft—engineered for ambition. **Role: Senior Software Engineer, US Bank Accounts Team** Join the nascent US Bank Accounts team to build products that enable businesses to open, manage, and move money directly within Adyen’s ecosystem. You’ll help evolve and scale existing capabilities, refine customer experiences, and build new products to expand the offering. As an early member of the team, you’ll shape technical design, architecture, and roadmap decisions; own projects end-to-end; and help define the team’s culture and identity. This Chicago-based role is part of the broader Financial Services product organization. **What you’ll do** - Work on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, and launch - Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices - Be hands-on and contribute to implementation - Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable - Build with the mindset that your code will be used at scale - Launch fast and iterate often—deliver live functionality within your first few weeks - Build APIs and tooling with quality principles (e.g., performance and code quality) - Collaborate across teams and time zones to deliver **Who you are** - You have an ownership mentality - Experience with Java, Web Services, REST APIs, Webhooks, and SQL/PostgreSQL - Strong understanding of software engineering practices and interest in product knowledge - Familiarity with complex, large-scale distributed systems - You value involving others to hear different perspectives **Minimum qualifications** - 7+ years of software development experience - Full professional proficiency in English - Based out of Adyen’s Chicago office (office-first; no remote-only roles) **Compensation & total rewards** - Annual base salary range: **$180,000 - $243,000** - Total compensation includes equity (RSUs), 401(k), health, dental, vision, and more **In-office expectations** - Work in-office at least **3 days per week on average** **Work eligibility** - Must be work authorized in the United States without the need for new visa sponsorship - Company can support visa transfers but will not sponsor individuals for **H-1B CAP** applications **What’s next** - Adyen aims to respond within **5 business days** - Interview process typically takes about **4 weeks** (may vary by role) **EEO statement** Adyen is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on legally protected status.
