Henry Schein One is looking for a **Staff Software Engineer** to lead the design, development, and optimization of **software installation frameworks** using **InstallShield**, and to work on core components of the **Clinical module** written in **C, C++, and C#**. You’ll help streamline **Dentrix** software deployment processes and improve **install/upgrade experiences** for customers ranging from large enterprises to small clinics. --- ### What You Will Do - Lead the design and reliability of **InstallShield** projects, custom actions, and related features for the **Dentrix desktop application** - Modernize and standardize installer infrastructure (e.g., **versioning, rollback, silent install contracts, upgrade strategies**) - Collaborate with **product managers, engineers, DevOps, and support** to build an iterative design process with continuous feedback - Troubleshoot and resolve complex installation-related issues across supported **Windows** environments - Contribute to core application components in **C, C++, and C#** with a focus on maintainability and performance - Mentor engineers and set best practices in **packaging, deployment, automated install testing**, and **legacy modernization** - Support **database schema management** with strong understanding of databases - Use **AI-assisted development tools responsibly** and champion AI-assisted engineering --- ### Technologies We Use - **Languages & Frameworks:** C, C++, C#, Python, InstallScript; .NET Framework 4.8, in-house MVVM, WinForms, WPF - **Package Management:** InstallShield - **DevOps & Tools:** GitLab, Jira - **Client/Server:** Java Web Services, Java Spring Boot, AWS - **AI/ML:** LLMs, RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, agentic frameworks & orchestration, model evaluation & monitoring, AI-assisted developer tooling --- ### What We Are Looking For - **8+ years** building Windows desktop and backend enterprise applications in **C#/.NET** and **C++** - **3+ years** hands-on experience with **package management tools**, preferably **InstallShield** - Strong knowledge of **Windows OS**, **Windows Installer (MSI)**, and registry/file system operations - Solid OOP design (SOLID, clean/layered architecture, MVVM) with dependency injection and unit testing - Experience working across native/managed codebases (e.g., **C++/CLI** or **P/Invoke**) - Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills for installation and runtime behaviors - Clear, confident communicator who thrives in collaboration and knowledge sharing - Ability to lead cross-functional efforts in **agile scrum** with engineering, QA, DevOps, and support - Ability to own technical design decisions and define cross-team interdependent roadmaps --- ### What Will Set You Apart - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) - Prior team/technical lead experience - Hands-on experience with dental/healthcare or other regulated healthcare data - Experience modernizing legacy Win32/MFC toward layered or service-oriented designs - Experience with packaging frameworks such as **WiX, Chocolatey, Scoop, Winget**, etc. - Experience instrumenting analytics to track performance/adoption and catch regressions early - Familiarity with **CI/CD** and build automation - Familiarity with
