Choose where you do your best work—home, office, or your favorite coffee shop—while staying connected through regular in-person events. **Overview** The Digital Twin Platform team is responsible for understanding exactly what is on store shelves at all times. Inventory estimates power key product experiences across Instacart, from search and advertising to logistics and fulfillment. The team owns the end-to-end data supply chain—from ingestion and integration of partner data sources, to collecting inventory observations, to model development, serving, and integrations across products. **About the Job** - Design, build, and operate platforms and services that power real-time understanding of products on store shelves across the network. - Develop data ingestion, processing, and serving systems combining partner data, inventory observations, and ML outputs into a reliable, scalable digital twin. - Collaborate with ML, computer vision, product, and data science teams to move models and data pipelines from research to production. - Tackle ambiguous, large-scale challenges across mapping, inventory, logistics, and computer vision—balancing fast delivery with long-term architectural quality. - Contribute to a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. **About You** **Minimum Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/Math or related field, or equivalent practical experience. - 5+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, and operating large-scale production systems. - Strong backend proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or Go; experience with SQL. - Experience with distributed systems, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure). - Track record of shipping production software with reliability, testing, observability, and maintainability. **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience with ML infrastructure, computer vision, image-based data pipelines, or annotation platforms. - Experience with real-time/streaming or geospatial services and systems in production. - Experience building data-intensive products in e-commerce, retail, logistics, or grocery. - Experience with edge devices, IoT, or hardware-software integration. - Familiarity with Spark, Kafka, or Airflow. **Remote** #LI-Remote **Compensation (US base pay ranges)** - **CA, NY, CT, NJ:** $199,000 — $210,000 USD - **WA:** $191,000 — $201,000 USD - **OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI:** $183,000 — $193,000 USD - **All other states:** $166,000 — $175,000 USD Offers may vary based on factors such as candidate experience and skills. This role may also be eligible for a new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
