**Senior Backend Engineer, Compliance Engineering** ## About the team The Compliance Engineering team prepares Reddit’s platforms for evolving regulatory requirements. You’ll help build products that establish trust across the Reddit platform, partnering with teams across the company to ensure platforms and features meet the highest standards. ## What you’ll do - Adapt Reddit platforms to an evolving privacy, security, and regulatory landscape - Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to build trusted, compliant experiences for millions of users - Influence both technical and product strategy on a highly visible team - Own product areas end-to-end (technical design, coding, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch) - Lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives critical to Reddit’s business and platform integrity - Raise the bar for engineering by improving workflows, setting standards, and mentoring engineers ## Qualifications - 5+ years backend development experience across multiple parts of the backend stack (databases, networking, efficient computing). Tech includes Go, Python, Postgres, Redis, Thrift, GraphQL; deploy to Docker/k8s on AWS - Experience as a tech lead on projects and teams with 3+ backend engineers - Ability to design and implement complex distributed systems under high load - Self-directed, innovative, action-oriented in fast-paced environments; thrives in ambiguity (and even failure) - Excellent communication skills; can collaborate effectively in a fully-remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences - Mentoring engineers, owning team processes, and leading cross-functional projects is preferred ## Benefits - Comprehensive Healthcare Benefits and Income Replacement Programs - 401k with Employer Match - Global benefit programs (workspace, professional development, caregiving support) - Family Planning Support - Gender-Affirming Care - Mental Health & Coaching Benefits - Flexible Vacation & Paid Volunteer Time Off - Generous Paid Parental Leave ## Pay transparency - **Base salary range:** **$190,800 — $267,100 USD** - In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for equity (RSUs) and, depending on position, commission. ## Interview & privacy notes - In select roles/locations, interviews may be recorded, transcribed, and summarized by AI.
