As a **Senior Manager, Software Engineering**, you’ll help shape software that supports Adaptive’s production systems and enable a meaningful impact on people’s lives. --- ## Position Overview The **Senior Manager, Software Engineering** leads a software development team for software enhancements and new product development. You’ll help establish individual team goals, align them with broader team objectives, and ensure those objectives drive company goals. You’ll also provide coaching and consistent feedback to support performance excellence, accountability, and team growth—while fostering belonging, respect, and open communication. --- ## Duties & Responsibilities - Oversee all development phases: specification, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operation of software supporting Adaptive’s production systems. - Partner with software program managers and internal customers to define application requirements and/or needed modifications. - Manage a team of software developers, prioritizing efforts to align with company and team goals. - Build strong technical understanding of production systems and plan continuous improvement, including elimination of technical debt. - Participate in release activities across specification, design, implementation, testing, and deployment. - Other duties as assigned. --- ## Qualifications - **Bachelor’s** in computer science, Bioinformatics, or equivalent required, with **12+ years** of related software engineering and leadership experience. - **Master’s** in computer science with **8+ years** of related experience. - Experience creating and maintaining complex software using modern methodologies in **Linux and Windows** environments. - Extensive experience with modern scripting languages such as **Python** or **Groovy**; strongly typed OOP languages such as **Java** or **C#**. - Relational database experience such as **Oracle** or **Postgres**. - Strong familiarity with **source control**, **unit testing**, **in-code documentation**, and **automated build environments**. - Superior communication skills to collaborate in a diverse, cross-discipline environment with non-computer scientists (e.g., lab technicians, biologists, geneticists, statisticians). - Ability to work well in a team, including openness to **pair-programming** and/or **code reviews**. - Experience handling production issues and providing production support; ability to debug, maintain, and/or refactor legacy code. - Experience with **Java Servlets, JSPs, HTML, and JavaScript**. - Knowledge of object-oriented JS frameworks such as **AngularJS**. - Experience with build tools such as **Ant** or **Gradle**. - Experience with web UI frameworks, web services, and **RESTful APIs**. --- ## Working Conditions - Office environment - Travel if needed (max **10%**) - **#LI-Remote** --- ## Compensation - **Salary Range:** **$163,100 - $244,700** - Possible other compensation elements: - Equity grant - Bonus eligible --- ## Important Notice (Fraud Alert) Adaptive has reported malicious groups posing as Adaptive employees using fraudulent email aliases to extend offers, provide fake documents, and request sensitive personal/financial information.
