**Software Engineer, Proactive Capabilities** **About the Role** Join Robinhood's Proactive Capabilities team to build novel tooling and state-of-the-art automation that eliminates business impact from threat actors. Design, build, and scale engineering tools that empower Security Engineers, eliminate operational toil, and expand security coverage across the company. **What You'll Do** • Build and scale flexible, reliable security tooling and services that improve visibility and expand scan coverage • Design and deploy AI agents and security automation workflows to drive proactive security risk discovery and remediation • Partner cross-functionally with Security Engineering and Product Engineering teams to establish secure-by-default patterns • Participate in design and system reviews alongside Proactive Security initiatives • Participate in on-call rotation to maintain high availability for critical security services **What You'll Need** • Proven software engineering fundamentals and practical system design skills with experience building scalable microservices • Proficiency in Go or Python (Go preferred) • Hands-on experience building and deploying services in cloud environments (AWS preferred) • Solid foundational knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes • Strong security domain context including understanding of attacker lifecycle and application security concepts • Pragmatic, curious, and collaborative mindset **Bonus Points** • Experience applying AI, LLMs, or agentic frameworks to security problems • Background in developer productivity or security automation • Deep AppSec experience, bug bounty participation, or CTF competition experience • Advanced Kubernetes experience or enterprise security platform building at scale **Locations** Bellevue, WA and Menlo Park, CA (3+ days/week in-person) **Compensation** Zone 1 (Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; Washington, DC): $166,000–$195,000 USD Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL): $147,000–$172,000 USD Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL): $130,000–$152,000 USD Plus bonus opportunities, equity, and comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) matching, and more.
