It takes a unified team committed to core values to achieve this goal. ## The Difference You Will Make The Service Tools team’s mission is to enable Airbnb backend developers to develop, test, and maintain their code quickly and reliably. This team owns the standard development lifecycle for service owners—from AI integration for service development, to how integration tests work, to building services for deployment. ## A Typical Day As an engineer on Service Tools, you’ll work on technologies that shape an industry-leading end-to-end developer experience for backend developers. In this role, you will: - Build the next-gen build system using modern technologies (e.g., Bazel) - Work on integrations between the build system and CI/CD tooling (e.g., merge queues, code coverage, integration testing) - Improve the editor experience (e.g., IntelliJ) for backend developers - Help shape the technical strategy that moves core metrics (Developer Experience, Developer Velocity, Debuggability, Resilience and Reliability) while reducing cost - Partner with engineering leaders across Airbnb teams to drive adoption of new capabilities (your customers are all engineers at Airbnb) - Act as a player/coach to ensure code quality, commitment to craft, and operational excellence ## Your Expertise - Experience working directly on build systems (hands-on experience with Bazel is a plus)
