**Sr Backend Engineer, Billing** **About the Role:** Own the systems that turn every plan, price, entitlement, and usage limit into revenue. You'll work on checkout, subscription and entitlement APIs, usage metering, and integrations to billing, CRM, and finance systems. When billing is wrong, customers get the wrong product and we invoice the wrong amount—correctness here is non-negotiable. **Key Responsibilities:** • Design and build systems that define plans, pricing, entitlements, and limits • Decompose billing from monolith into correct, testable, independently deployable services • Own correctness end-to-end: usage metering, reconciliation, invoices, and customer-facing data • Operate what you build: SLOs, alerting, on-call, and root cause fixes **Required Qualifications:** • 6+ years professional software engineering experience with complex backend applications • Experience decomposing a monolith • Track record on systems where correctness is critical (idempotency, reconciliation, reversible migrations, safe cutovers) • Proficiency in at least one backend language (Go, Rust, Python, etc.) • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent) and strong production ownership including on-call **Tech Stack:** Go, TypeScript, Postgres, AWS, Terraform **Bonus Experience:** • Billing, payments, metering systems, or usage-based pricing • Modeling entitlements, quotas, or multi-tenant limits **Compensation (Level 4):** • Zone 1 (SF/Bay Area, NYC, Boston, Seattle): $191,800 - $263,670 • Zone 2 (Irvine, LA, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago): $172,600 - $237,270 • Zone 3 (All other US locations): $163,000 - $224,070 *Includes RSUs, health/vision/dental insurance, and mental health benefits*
