**IS Specialist I - Security/Cyber Threats** **Location:** Springfield, IL (501 S 2nd St, Sangamon County) **Employment Type:** Full Time **Salary:** $6,052 - $11,261/month (commensurate with experience) **Overview:** Utilizes technical skills to recognize, prioritize, communicate, escalate, and document vulnerability scans and findings. Detects application vulnerabilities using security tools, policies, standards, and procedures. **Key Responsibilities:** • Perform vulnerability scans on systems and applications • Review scan results and identify vulnerabilities requiring further analysis • Track vulnerabilities from discovery through remediation and closure • Analyze vulnerabilities based on severity, exploitability, and business impact • Prioritize remediation efforts using risk-based methodology • Verify remediation through rescanning or validating compensating controls • Coordinate with stakeholders on remediation strategies • Escalate overdue or high-risk findings when necessary • Support exception processes for unfixable vulnerabilities • Maintain current certifications and stay abreast of latest security technologies • Travel as necessary for education and meetings **Required Qualifications:** • 2 years of college coursework in computer science OR • 2.5 years of technical systems/programming experience OR • Equivalent combination of education and IT project management experience • Working knowledge of systems design, implementation, and computer operations • Ability to organize facts, analyze data, and present results clearly • Sound judgment in analyzing and solving technical problems • Ability to adhere to security, privacy, and ethics standards • Valid Illinois driver's license • Must be authorized to work in the United States **Benefits:** https://cms.illinois.gov/benefits/stateemployee.html **Apply:** https://ilsos.applytojob.gov/apply **Contact:** Chicago (312-793-5515) or Springfield (217-782-4783) *Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
