**Staff Software Engineer, Certificate Lifecycle Management** **About the Role** Keeper Security is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to architect and build next-generation certificate and machine identity security capabilities. This is a 100% remote position with hybrid options for Chicago, IL or El Dorado Hills, CA. **Key Responsibilities** • Architect certificate lifecycle management spanning discovery, inventory, enrollment, issuance, deployment, renewal, rotation and revocation • Design scalable backend services and APIs for managing certificates and machine identities • Build discovery and automation workflows across cloud platforms, Kubernetes, web servers, load balancers and infrastructure • Design integrations with public and private certificate authorities • Develop secure workflows for certificate enrollment, key handling and deployment • Provide technical leadership on PKI architecture and cryptographic standards • Lead technical design reviews and mentor engineers • Evaluate emerging PKI and machine identity technologies **Required Qualifications** • 8+ years professional software engineering experience • Deep hands-on experience with certificate lifecycle management, PKI or machine identity security • Strong understanding of X.509 certificates, certificate authorities and public key cryptography • Experience with ACME, SCEP, EST, OCSP, CRLs and TLS protocols • Backend software engineering experience (Java, Go, Python, C++, C# or similar) • Experience designing scalable APIs and distributed systems • Strong understanding of secure key handling and cryptographic trust • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience **Preferred Qualifications** • Experience with Keyfactor, DigiCert, Venafi, AppViewX or similar platforms • Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services experience • Kubernetes and CI/CD pipeline automation experience • Hardware security modules and key management systems knowledge • Security-sensitive enterprise SaaS product experience **Benefits** • Medical, Dental & Vision coverage • Life Insurance (employer paid) • 401K (Roth/Traditional) • Generous PTO plan • Above-market annual bonuses **Equal Opportunity Employer** | E-Verify Participant
