**Staff Applied AI Engineer** at Oscar Health **About the Role** Join Oscar's AI team to build and launch transformative AI-powered products that redefine the healthcare experience. As an Applied AI Engineer, you'll take end-to-end ownership of high-impact projects—conceiving, prototyping, and deploying generative AI solutions across the healthcare ecosystem. Work alongside world-class engineers and data scientists, rapidly iterating and shipping production-ready applications. **Key Responsibilities** • Lead design, development, and deployment of AI-driven products from prototype to production • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and business teams • Experiment with new models, techniques, and tools (LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows) • Build full-stack applications and intelligent agents for healthcare workflows • Stay current with emerging AI technologies and integrate them strategically • Contribute to Oscar's AI strategy and technical vision **Required Qualifications** • 7+ years professional experience in software engineering, data science, or related field • 5+ years leading cross-pod/cross-company deliverables • 5+ years leading technical contributions and mentoring junior engineers • 5+ years setting standards for stable, correct, maintainable code • Strong Python programming skills • Experience solving complex, ambiguous problems • Experience designing and analyzing experiments • Interest in prototyping full-stack applications **Bonus Points** • Healthcare industry or claims/clinical data experience • Degree in math, statistics, data science, or engineering • NLP, neural networks, transformers, and modern AI frameworks • Docker, Kubernetes, React, or Golang experience • Experimental mindset and comfort with iteration **Work Location & Compensation** Hybrid (NYC) — 3 days/week in-office, Thursdays required **Base Pay:** $198,720 - $260,820/year **Benefits:** Medical, dental, vision, 11 paid holidays, paid parental leave, 401(k), equity grants, performance bonuses, unlimited vacation **Reports to:** Sr. Director, AI
