**Engineering Manager, AI Platform** **About Vannevar** Vannevar is a defense technology company building AI to deter adversaries. We create agentic AI purpose-built to compete in the 21st century, modeling adversary behavior, simulating campaigns, and recommending courses of action to decision makers. Our AI systems are actively used on the front lines of the Indo-Pacific. **About the Role** We're seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our AI Platform organization. This team provides the durable, reusable foundation that product and mission teams use to build, operate, and improve AI-powered capabilities. The AI Platform encompasses: • **Machine Learning platform**: Standard pipelines and shared services for reliable, scalable data and model enrichments • **Agents platform**: Runtime foundation for building and operating agents with focus on durable execution, observability, evaluation, and safe operation at scale **Key Responsibilities** • Lead the AI Platform organization and set technical direction • Build enrichments foundation with standard pipelines and operational patterns • Scale agents runtime with orchestration, state management, and reliability • Define platform standards and reusable primitives • Raise quality bar through measurement, testing, and evaluation practices • Drive cross-functional execution with Product, Design, Mission, Security, and Infrastructure teams • Balance velocity and reliability in AI systems supporting real-world missions • Grow and develop a high-performing engineering team **Required Experience** • 3+ years as an engineering manager leading software teams • 5+ years hands-on machine learning experience • 2+ years building agentic AI systems in production • Experience building platforms used by multiple internal teams • Deep familiarity with AI/ML production challenges: orchestration, evaluation, observability, quality, reliability • Proficiency: Python, PostgreSQL, AWS, distributed systems, workflow engineering • U.S. Citizenship (required for access to U.S.-only data systems) **Nice to Have** • Experience with LangGraph, Temporal, Agno, or similar frameworks • ML platforms, data pipelines, model evaluation experience • Secure, observable systems in regulated/mission-critical environments • Active security clearance or willingness to obtain one • Defense, national security, or intelligence software experience **What We Offer** • Health, dental, and vision insurance • Remote-friendly with WeWork access • Unlimited PTO and company-wide downtime • 401(k) match • Lifestyle & wellbeing stipends • Fully paid parental leave • Child and pet care reimbursement during travel **Equal Opportunity** Vannevar is an equal opportunity employer.
