**Technical Director, Roblox Studio** **About the Role:** Roblox Studio is the creation engine behind millions of immersive 3D games built by creators worldwide. As Technical Director, you will own the technical direction of the Studio application and its creator tooling, accountable for architecture, performance, and long-term success. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role where you set technical direction, design architecture, write code, and raise the bar across teams. **Key Responsibilities:** • Define and lead the technical roadmap for Roblox Studio with focus on performance, responsiveness, and extensibility • Design and build core systems for a high-performance desktop IDE: startup, editing, edit-test loop, debugging, and frameworks • Lead by example as hands-on contributor while setting architectural standards • Drive performance work end-to-end through profiling and optimization • Partner with engineering, product, and design teams on creator tooling • Bring reusable patterns and best practices across Studio teams **Required Qualifications:** • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent (MS/PhD a plus) • 12+ years developing high-performance, large-scale C++ systems with platform ownership • Proven track record in memory management, concurrency, data structures, or real-time systems • Strong background in creator tooling, developer tools, or IDE platforms • Experience building and optimizing high-performance client applications • Ability to set technical direction and influence across multiple teams **Nice to Have:** • Experience with graphics and real-time rendering • Experience building debugging and profiling tooling **Salary:** $399,420 – $457,970 USD (San Mateo, CA) **Work Schedule:** Onsite Tuesday–Thursday (optional Monday/Friday)
