**Staff Software Engineer, Web Product Enablement** **About the Role:** Help define and drive the technical direction of the web development layer at Pinterest. You'll focus on data fetching architecture while contributing broadly to systems, frameworks, and best practices that enable product engineers to build high-quality web experiences at scale. **Key Responsibilities:** • Define technical direction for foundational web capabilities with primary focus on data fetching • Assess current frameworks, tooling, and patterns; identify high-impact improvement opportunities • Lead platform investments that simplify development and reduce friction • Partner across product, platform, design, and infrastructure teams on scalable technical patterns • Shape evolution of data fetching in hybrid GraphQL/REST environment • Establish best practices, reusable abstractions, and technical guidance • Mentor engineers and influence technical direction through architecture reviews • Contribute to high-scale web platform serving millions of users **Required Qualifications:** • 8+ years of web software engineering experience with client-side data architecture • Deep understanding of caching, consistency, latency, reliability, and developer ergonomics tradeoffs • Expert-level coding in JavaScript/TypeScript (Python optional) • Knowledge of Node.js, server-side rendering, and GraphQL frameworks like Relay • Strong experience with both GraphQL and REST • Proven ability to evaluate complex systems and lead cross-team execution • Experience establishing reusable patterns and technical standards • Strong technical leadership and mentorship skills • Excellent written and verbal communication • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience **Work Arrangement:** • In-office 1-2 times/quarter (can be located anywhere in the US) • Not eligible for relocation assistance **Compensation (US-based applicants):** $177,185 — $364,795 USD + equity Pinterest is an equal opportunity employer.
