**Staff+ Software Engineer, Infrastructure (Distributed Systems)** **About the Role** Anthropics Infrastructure organization builds and operates distributed systems that train, serve, and secure AI models. As a Staff+ Software Engineer, you'll independently scope and lead complex, multi-month infrastructure projects, make architectural decisions, and work with research and product teams. **Key Responsibilities** • Independently scope and lead complex, multi-month infrastructure projects from conception to production • Make architectural decisions that shape infrastructure other engineers build on • Drive alignment on technical direction across multiple teams • Partner with research and product teams to understand infrastructure needs • Own reliability, scalability, and security of systems as they scale • Set technical strategy and standards for your team • Build and improve operational processes (incident response, postmortems, on-call) • Mentor other engineers and raise technical standards **Minimum Qualifications** • Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production • Track record of independently scoping and delivering complex, multi-month technical projects • Experience making architectural decisions other teams build on • Strong software engineering fundamentals; proficiency in Python, Rust, Go, or Java • Experience with Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code on AWS/GCP • Strong written and verbal communication skills **Preferred Qualifications** • 10+ years of software engineering experience • ML infrastructure experience (GPUs, TPUs, Trainium, NCCL) • Low-level systems experience (Linux kernel tuning, eBPF) • Security or privacy engineering background • Prior technical leadership or mentoring experience **Compensation & Logistics** 💰 $320,000 – $485,000 USD annually 📍 Hybrid (25% office minimum) 🎓 Bachelor's degree or equivalent required ✅ Visa sponsorship available **Apply anytime** — rolling basis review
