**Senior Software Engineer, Agent Platform (AI for the Planet)** **Location:** Seattle (on-site) **Salary:** $146,880 - $220,320 + bonus **About the Role:** Build the foundational platform infrastructure for AI agents serving conservation groups, government agencies, and research organizations. You'll design APIs, observability systems, and evaluation tooling that enable developers to deploy agents from prototype to production without needing direct support. **Key Responsibilities:** • Design and evolve platform APIs (registration, auth, deployment, runtime, evaluation) • Build observability layer (logs, traces, metrics, failure reporting) • Implement evaluation as a first-class platform feature • Build and operate core services (identity, orchestration, deployment, event routing) • Build and run agents in production yourself • Own developer experience end-to-end (SDKs, CLI, docs, quickstarts) • Work directly with customers to identify platform needs **Required:** • 8+ years professional software engineering experience • Experience with web services, distributed systems, data pipelines, cloud tooling • Track record shipping products to external users and operating them in production • Strong opinions on API design; preference for simplicity • Fluency with modern AI tools • Clear technical communication skills **Nice to Have:** • Developer platform, SDK, or public API experience • Production LLM agent experience • Evaluation/experimentation systems for nondeterministic software • Early-stage company experience • Public technical work (open source, writing, projects) **About AI2:** Seattle-based non-profit AI research institute building breakthrough AI for real-world impact.
