**Staff Platform Engineer** **About Cortex** Cortex is the Engineering Operations Platform - mission control for the AI software factory. Used by teams like Rapid7, Xero, BigCommerce, Skyscanner, and others. YC company, SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001 certified. **Location** Fully remote, US-based candidates welcome. All-company offsites a few times per year. **Role Summary** Own and define the architecture of Cortex's infrastructure and platform. Lead foundational platform work including deploy pipelines, multi-tenant isolation, database stability, and compliance capabilities for enterprise customers. **Key Responsibilities** • Define architecture and best practices for platform and infrastructure • Own deploy pipeline and lead migration to GitOps model (Argo) • Design multi-tenant isolation and dedicated/single-tenant deployment paths • Lead database stabilization and performance work • Build infrastructure for compliance-heavy and government deployments • Set standards for observability, on-call, and operational readiness • Collaborate with leadership and product on platform capabilities **Requirements** • 10+ years designing, operating, and scaling production systems • Deep expertise in Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) • Strong Postgres proficiency with scale experience • System-level architectural judgment • Proficiency in at least one application language (JVM preferred) • Strong security mindset • Fluent use of AI in engineering workflows • Excellent communication and technical leadership **Compensation & Benefits** • Salary: $250,000 - $285,000 • Competitive equity package • 100% covered medical, dental, vision insurance • Unlimited PTO & flexible hours • 401k, parental leave, $1,000 L&D stipend, $400 monthly perks stipend, pet insurance
