About this role
## Head of Experimentation ### About the Job Feature management and experimentation have converged into a single market. Engineering teams are no longer the sole evaluator—data scientists and data-focused PMs now carry equal weight on the largest deals. This role owns whether LaunchDarkly becomes the definitive experimentation platform in an AI-accelerated world. ### Key Responsibilities • **Own the Experimentation pillar** – Direct Product team leadership in a triad model with Engineering and Design. Drive strategy, roadmap delivery, and commercial outcomes. • **Make experimentation the measurement layer of the AI SDLC** – Partner across AI, observability, and feature management to productize AI-native primitives and build closed-loop feedback systems. • **Win the high-maturity buyer** – Earn technical confidence of senior data scientists and data-focused PMs. Ship statistical depth, warehouse coverage, and experiment-first workflows that win pivotal reference deals. • **Make warehouse-native a weapon** – Expand coverage across major data warehouses with parity on analysis-only mode, variance reduction, ratio/percentile metrics, exposure validation, and arbitrary-window analysis. • **Operate a high-performing function** – Run disciplined roadmaps, ship predictably against quarterly commitments, drive AI-assisted engineering productivity, and hire strategically. • **Be the external face of the category** – Represent the product credibly to data scientists, PMs, experimenters, and partners. Equip sales to win head-to-head. ### Success Metrics • Win rate on experimentation-involved deals, especially competitive evaluations • Reference-grade customers at top maturity levels • Monthly active customers and active-account ARR growth • Experimentation attach rate on enterprise deals • Engineering throughput and AI-assisted development adoption ### Required Qualifications • Senior product leader (GM, VP, or equivalent) with track record owning product lines competing on statistical rigor and data infrastructure • Deep fluency in experimentation methodology: causal inference, variance reduction, ratio metrics, sequential testing, multi-armed bandits, composite metrics • Credibility with data science leaders at sophisticated organizations • Led functions including engineering, design, and data science • Clear communicator who decides fast and prefers shipping to requirements documents • Opinionated about experimentation in an AI-native world ### Preferred Qualifications • Built or scaled experimentation as core infrastructure • Won competitive evaluations with sophisticated data-science organizations • Shipped warehouse-native data products • View experimentation as core infrastructure for proving any change works ### Compensation **Level M5 – Target Pay Ranges (inclusive of 20% bonus):** • Zone 1 (SF/Bay Area, NYC, Boston, Seattle): $301,000 - $414,000 • Zone 2 (LA, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago, others): $271,000 - $373,000 • Zone 3 (All other US locations): $256,000 - $352,000 *Plus RSUs, health/vision/dental insurance, and mental health benefits.
