We’re engineers, operators, and creatives solving complex, interdisciplinary challenges. --- ## About the Role This is a **distributed systems** backend role focused on correctness, reliability, and operational safety—not typical CRUD. You’ll build the infrastructure behind: - Experimentation - Partner integrations - Lead ingestion & attribution - Member onboarding workflows (multi-week, cross-team, vendor + market requirements) - Retail operations (automating routine decisions, surfacing exceptions, and ensuring humans intervene where judgment is required) - Live operational + telemetry data pipelines (handling outages, stale/missing data, duplicates, retries, partial failures, and conflicting updates) The goal: move members through the pipeline quickly while scaling the business **without scaling manual work linearly**. --- ## What You’ll Do - Design and build distributed systems for critical member and operational workflows - Define ownership, state, invariants, and failure handling across multiple services and teams - Ensure correctness under retries, duplicate events, delayed data, partial failure, concurrent updates, and manual intervention - Make tradeoffs across consistency, availability, latency, operational complexity, and member experience - Identify bottlenecks and turn manual/error-prone work into reliable automation - Build infrastructure for experimentation, integrations, and workflow orchestration - Stream live and derived data into internal and member-facing applications - Write clearly and align technical decisions across engineering and non-engineering stakeholders --- ## What You’ll Bring - Strong systems and API design fundamentals - Deep analytical ability and sound judgment in ambiguous environments - Experience building/operating distributed systems with real correctness requirements - Comfort reasoning about idempotency, ordering, state machines, reconciliation, observability, and recovery from failure - Ability to separate stakeholder requests from the underlying system/product problem - Strong written communication and a high bar for clarity - Operationally complex product experience is a plus --- ## About the Team This team builds infrastructure that improves growth, reduces cycle time, and makes the member journey more reliable.
