**FloSports — Engineering Manager** FloSports is a world-class sports media company building the essential destination for passionate sports fans—delivering live coverage, breaking news, highlights, stats, rankings, and team/player profiles. We’re looking for an **Engineering Manager** to lead and grow a high-performing team of fullstack and backend engineers, help drive the strategic vision with Product Managers and Designers, and elevate the broader Product Engineering organization through collaboration and a culture of inclusion, diversity, ownership, and autonomy. --- ### **THE ROLE** - Lead and grow a team of **4–6 direct reports** (fullstack + backend) - Partner with Product and Design to drive execution and align on application strategy - Improve team effectiveness through process improvements, metrics, and continuous learning - Ensure high-quality technical output and strong incident/on-call practices --- ### **RESPONSIBILITIES** - Manage performance, development, engagement, and hiring for a high-performing engineering team - Organize team work, set goals, and hold the team accountable (including monitoring/escalating issues) - Collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, and QA on scheduling, planning, and sizing - Identify and remove bottlenecks impacting progress toward team and department goals - Stay current on industry advances that improve execution efficiency - Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members - Foster a culture of growth, openness, and opportunity; collaborate with other Engineering Leaders - Participate in code reviews and technical/architectural discussions - Ensure healthy on-call escalations and incident management --- ### **TECH STACK** TypeScript, HTML/CSS/JS, PHP, MySQL, Redis, Sphinx, Firebase, Git/GitHub, Docker, EC2, S3, SNS, SQS, DataDog, PagerDuty --- ### **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES** - **4+ years** hands-on software engineering experience (front-end and back-end) - **2+ years** management and/or team leadership experience - Experience leading engineers: growth, hiring, and performance management - Strong focus on process improvements and key performance metrics - Ability to collaborate effectively and act as a partner in product decisions - Systems/software architecture understanding for high-traffic, scalable web and distributed systems - Proficiency with RESTful APIs (JSON, CRUD) - High proficiency with CI/CD - Containerization experience preferred - Large data sets experience preferred --- ### **BONUS POINTS** - Encourage developers to **own systems** and be accountable for reliability and outcomes - Understand you’re also “product”: ownership of outcomes alongside PM/design - Care about business outcomes and customers - Support planning, estimation, and project management with product counterparts --- ### **WORK LOCATION** - **Fully remote** candidates welcome - **Occasional travel** to the **Austin, TX** office --- ### **OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY** FloSports is committed to building a diverse, inclusive workplace and uses a **blind recruiting process** to support more objective, equitable hiring decisions. --- ### **BENEFITS** - Top Workplace recognition (three years in a row) - Flexibility and control over your schedule - Annual all-hands events in Austin, Texas - Annual equity awards for top performers - Competitive medical, dental, and vision plans - Company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance - 401(K) match vested immediately
